Shipping costs and free shipping

By creating shipping zones you can show estimated shipping costs to your customers on your storefront. This doesn't impact the final shipping costs added in checkout, as these are calculated in Shopify.

Additionally, setting up shipping zones allows you to display the free shipping bar. It lets customers in eligible zones know how much they need to add to their order for it to be shipped for free and visualizes it with a bar that fills up.

Create shipping zones

  1. Open your Instant Commerce store and go to Settings > Shipping zones and click Create shipping zone.
  2. At the top, enter a Name for internal reference.
  3. Under Shipping zone rules, enter the Shipping costs for this zone.
  4. (Optional) If you already know you want to offer free shipping for the zone you're creating, you can enable Eligible for free shipping by toggling the switch and entering a Free shipping threshold.
  5. Under Ship to: select the countries included in this zone. If you select them by clicking the Browse countries button, you can select entire continents at once.
  6. Once you've added all the countries for this shipping zone, click Create.
