Manage custom blocks

This information only applies if your organization is developing its own custom blocks with the Instant Commerce SDK. If you aren't already, you can get started with custom block development

If you have added custom blocks to your organization, you can:

Check usage

  1. Open your store and go to organization settings > Custom block manager.
  2. Click the block you'd like to check.
  3. Scroll down to Usage to see where the custom block is used.

Change name or description

  1. Open your store and go to organization settings > Custom block manager.
  2. Click the block you'd like to change the name and/or description for.
  3. Scroll down to General information.
  4. Enter a new Block name and/or Block description.
  5. Save your changes.

Add or change preview image

  1. Open your store and go to organization settings > Custom block manager.
  2. Click the block you'd like to change or upload a preview image for.
  3. Scroll down to General information.
  4. Under Block image, click Change or Upload.
  5. Upload the (new) preview image for the custom block.
  6. Save your changes.

Archive a custom block

note

Archiving a custom section will disable it in your stores' customizers. You won't be able to add it in new places in the storefront, but it will remain where it is.

You can restore this block later and it will not be permanently removed from your storefront.

  1. Open your store and go to organization settings > Custom block manager.
  2. Click the block you'd like to archive.
  3. Open the dropdown next to Save and select Archive.
  4. Click Archive section.

Restore an archived block

  1. Open your store and go to Organization settings > Custom block manager.
  2. Click the block you'd like to reinstate.
  3. Click Restore block.

Delete an archived block

Please note!

When you delete a block, it is removed from your storefronts and the associated content is removed from Storyblok.
This can't be undone.

It's good practice to replace the block in your storefronts first.

You can only delete archived blocks.

  1. Open your store and go to organization settings > Custom block manager.
  2. Click the block you'd like to delete.
  3. Open the dropdown next to Save and select Delete.
  4. Click Remove.
